Projects built with unrelenting passion
For more than 15 years Loeffler Construction has brought uncompromising advocacy to award-winning projects across the upper midwest. Specializing in supporting community-driven organizations, we’ve partnered with clients ranging from higher education to tribal communities.
UMN West Bank Skyway
This project upgraded the exterior of the West Bank Skyway with demolition, framing, and installation of new Centria metal panels over Metro Transit’s right-of-way. The replacement of the exterior envelope addressed ongoing water infiltration issues and extended the life of this heavily used campus connection.
UMN St. Paul Campus Roof Replacements
At the heart of the University’s campus, three academic buildings, Aldermann Hall, Haecker Hall, and the Biosystems Building, received much-needed roof replacements. Each building carried its own history, stakeholder needs, and logistical challenges, requiring a thoughtful approach to planning and delivery.
UMN Territorial Hall Sanitary Sewer Replacement
This project addressed the replacement of the failing sanitary and sewer system at Territorial Hall by removing the existing system and rerouting it into an adjacent city right-of-way.
UMN Pleasant Street Reconstruction
Pleasant Street is more than just a roadway; it is the signature gateway to the University of Minnesota’s East Bank campus. Framed by historic architecture and serving thousands of pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and vehicles each day, the corridor demanded thoughtful improvements to balance safety, access, and campus character.
UMN South Church Street Reconstruction
This project involved utility upgrades and the full reconstruction of Church Street SE between Washington Avenue SE and Delaware Street SE. The corridor, though only one block long, serves as a critical transportation route for pedestrians and bicycles in the heart of the University of Minnesota campus.
Metropolitan State University Skyway Preservation
This project required innovative solutions to maintain safety and minimize disruption while working over an active highway. Loeffler and its dedicated trade partners designed and installed a complex scaffolding system that spanned Trunk Highway 5, supported by carefully coordinated night lane shifts to protect both crews and the traveling public.
UMN North Church Street Reconstruction
The North Church Street project rebuilt nearly two city blocks of shared-use plaza between Washington Avenue and the Church Street Parking Garage. Serving as a central pedestrian and bicycle thoroughfare, the corridor also accommodates daily delivery vehicles to surrounding campus buildings, making careful planning essential.
UMN Tashjian Bee and Pollinator Discovery Center
Located on the eastern campus of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, this 6,700 SF facility highlights the ecological and agricultural importance of bees while serving as both a public education center and a research hub for the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Minnesota.
UMN Plant Growth Research Facility
This 12,000 SF addition to the Plant Growth Facilities West Greenhouse District created a first-of-its-kind space for the College of Biological Sciences, combining advanced research facilities with a public conservatory under one roof.
UMN Knoll Area Infrastructure Improvements
Recognized as the oldest part of the University of Minnesota’s Minneapolis campus, the Knoll Area presented a unique set of logistical challenges. With an aggressive two-season schedule and a complex scope of both exterior and interior work, the project required a steady, experienced hand.
Cherry View Elementary Additions
To support the District’s growing student population, Loeffler partnered with the District and design team to deliver two building additions totaling 15,000 square feet. Each structure was carefully designed to blend seamlessly with the existing elementary school, maintaining architectural consistency while expanding the school’s capacity and functionality.
Lake Marion Elementary Addition
As enrollment continued to rise across the district, the need for additional classroom space became clear. Loeffler partnered with the District and design team to deliver a 15,500-square-foot addition that expands the school’s capacity with ten new classrooms and two small group learning areas, all designed to blend seamlessly into the existing building and align with the District’s new interior standards.
Christina Huddleston Elementary Addition
Loeffler Construction served the Lakeville Area School District as the Construction Manager Advisor for the Christina Huddleston Elementary Addition. This one-story, 9,365 SF addition includes four new classrooms and three spaces for collaborative learning.
Eastview Elementary School Addition
This project included a two-story, 9,000 SF addition to the south-east corner of the existing elementary school. The Lakeville Area Schools was facing an increasing student enrollment over the upcoming years, and to accommodate for this growth, added four classrooms and four breakout spaces.
Lakeville Area Schools Dome Ready Turf Fields
Loeffler Construction managed the replacement of the existing stadium turf at Lakeville North High School and the addition of two new dome-ready practice fields at both North and South High Schools.
McGuire Middle School Gym Addition
Loeffler served as Construction Manager as Adviser for the addition of a new gymnasium facility at McGuire Middle School. The completed project includes two competition-size gyms with two teaching stations, 400-person spectator seating, and an operable partition that allows the space to function as either one large venue or two independent gyms.
John F. Kennedy Elementary Addition
Loeffler Construction served as Construction Manager Adviser to the Lakeville Area School District for the John F. Kennedy Elementary classroom addition. The 8,600-square-foot expansion created four new classrooms and four flexible collaboration spaces to support the District’s growing enrollment.
UMN Bridge 9
The City of Minneapolis began a large-scale, multi-phased maintenance project on the historic Northern Pacific Railroad Bridge No. 9 several years ago, with completion anticipated in 2028. As part of this effort, Loeffler was entrusted in 2020 to manage a two-phase relocation and replacement of the University’s steam and condensate lines that run beneath the bridge, supplying critical utilities to the West Bank campus.
Artspace Lofts Minot
Artspace Lofts Minot marked a major milestone for the city, becoming the first newly constructed building in downtown Minot in more than 30 years when it was completed. The four-story development provides 34 live-work artist studios along with first-floor retail, creating a vibrant hub for both residents and the community.
Post Consumer Brands Parking Lot Replacement
This project, located at the Post Consumer Brands facility in Lakeville, MN, involved the revitalization and enhancement of the common areas in both the East and West buildings, with a primary focus on the cafeteria and café areas.
