Rebuilding a Central Campus Corridor

The North Church Street project rebuilt nearly two city blocks of shared-use plaza between Washington Avenue and the Church Street Parking Garage. Serving as a central pedestrian and bicycle thoroughfare, the corridor also accommodates daily delivery vehicles to surrounding campus buildings, making careful planning essential.

Loeffler first joined the team during the early design phase as a cost consultant alongside the lead designer, HTPO. We were then selected as Construction Manager, guiding the project through construction. Unique aspects of the work included boring a deep sanitary sewer line, integrating improvements along the adjacent Scholars Walk, sequencing access exclusively from the north to avoid disruptions to the Light Rail, and delivering the project on the immovable summer break timeline.
