Where Bee Research and Public Learning Meet

Located on the eastern campus of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, this 6,700 SF facility highlights the ecological and agricultural importance of bees while serving as both a public education center and a research hub for the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Minnesota.

The building includes a central exhibit space, flexible teaching and gathering areas, a honey extraction house, and a pollinator garden with outdoor exhibition zones. Sustainable design strategies such as daylighting, high-performance insulation, energy recovery HVAC, and a geothermal ground source system helped the project achieve both National B3 Sustainability Standards and State of Minnesota Sustainable Building 2030 requirements.
