Building Opportunities for Communities to Thrive
Loeffler Construction served as the design-builder for this innovative hemp processing facility, developed to create jobs and expand housing opportunities for the Lower Sioux Indian Community. The project reflects the community’s vision of using sustainable solutions to support economic growth and housing needs.
The facility produces Hempcrete—a sustainable building material made from hemp that is moisture- and fire-resistant, antimicrobial, and antifungal. The project included construction of a pre-engineered metal building with mass excavation, underground structures, concrete piers, and foundations. Key features include two ADA restrooms, a breakroom/conference room, a 25-foot garage door to accommodate farm equipment, exterior concrete pads for propane and equipment, and new bituminous paving for parking and circulation.
Now fully operational, the facility has created new employment opportunities and provides a source of affordable, sustainable housing for community members. Learn more about the Lower Sioux Indian Community’s Hemp Program and Housing Project.
